CAMFED Tanzania is looking to recruit a Head of Finance based in Dar es Salaam.


Job Description

As the Head of Finance, you will lead the Finance function at CAMFED Tanzania, driving strategic financial planning, management, control, and analysis. Your role will ensure the efficient and effective use and accountability of financial resources, and the smooth operation of the Finance team and systems. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading a team responsible for producing management accounts.
  • Generating weekly, monthly, and quarterly management reports for the Executive Team.
  • Providing senior management with essential information for planning, risk assessment, control, and decision-making.
  • Overseeing the production of quarterly planning & compliance tools, ensuring timely implementation.
  • Analyzing variances in donor grants and exploring potential solutions with management.
  • Developing and managing annual budgets, donor/project budgets, forecasts, and financial planning.
  • Preparing cash flow statements, income and expenditure accounts, and balance sheets.
  • Ensuring timely reconciliation of accounts and maintaining up-to-date ledgers.
  • Developing robust costing models for the organization.
  • Providing technical financial support to other departments, including Programs, Monitoring & Evaluation, Administration, and District staff.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely reports to donors.
  • Planning and managing the continuous development of the finance system and procedures.
  • Leading project budgets and providing financial analysis.
  • Ensuring compliance with CAMFED policies, donor contracts, and financial regulations.
  • Training district and partner structures in financial management and record keeping.
  • Coordinating and leading internal and external audits.
  • Visiting districts to build capacity among district staff and structures.
  • Working with senior management to ensure risks are identified, analyzed, and mitigated on a quarterly basis.

Person Specification

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Financial Management (e.g., BCom, BAF, BA).
  • Professional Qualifications: Certified Professional Accountant, Management Accountant, or equivalent (CPA, ACCA, CMA) registered with an appropriate professional governing authority.
  • Advanced Qualifications: Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience: 7+ years in a relevant field.
  • Skills:

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
