About the Role
The Digital Economy Team supports regional and international initiatives to advance digital transformation, innovation, and policy development.
GIZ is seeking a Digital Economy Intern to support the Team Lead in implementing digital economy initiatives, conducting policy analysis, and facilitating stakeholder engagement across sectors.
The role will contribute to projects in digital governance, cross-border data flows, e-commerce, and emerging technologies.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and analysis on digital economy policies and regulations
- Draft policy briefs, reports, and presentations
- Support coordination of meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagements
- Monitor global and regional digital trends (AU, UN, World Bank)
- Support knowledge management and documentation of insights
- Assist in preparation of briefing materials for meetings and events
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the Team Lead
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Digital Economy, International Relations, Public Policy, Economics, Law, or related field
Experience & Competencies
- At least one (1) year experience in digital economy policy or related areas
- Strong understanding of digital policy frameworks and governance
- Experience in research and policy document drafting
- Familiarity with international digital initiatives and regulations
- Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and collaboration tools
Language Skills
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
- Kiswahili or French is an added advantage
Additional Information
- This position is based in Arusha, Tanzania
- Internship duration: 6 months
- A stipend will be provided in line with GIZ internship policy
