About the Internship
Jhpiego, a global health nonprofit organization affiliated with Johns Hopkins University, is seeking a highly motivated Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Intern to support the implementation of the BEAT Breast Cancer Project in Zanzibar.
This internship offers an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career health professional to gain practical experience in monitoring, evaluation, public health data management, and evidence-based decision-making. The selected intern will work with healthcare facilities, district health teams, and project stakeholders to strengthen health information systems and improve breast cancer screening and patient care services.

Key Responsibilities
- Support data collection, entry, cleaning, validation, and analysis activities.
- Assist in monitoring breast cancer screening, diagnosis, and patient navigation services.
- Support healthcare facilities and District Health Management Teams in data quality assurance and timely reporting.
- Participate in routine monitoring visits and data verification exercises.
- Assist healthcare providers in proper documentation and reporting practices.
- Track and follow up breast cancer patients to support continuity of care.
- Contribute to project reports, presentations, and data summaries.
- Support the management and maintenance of digital health information systems and databases.
- Perform other monitoring and evaluation duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Medical Degree (MD) or equivalent qualification.
- Background in Public Health, Biostatistics, Monitoring & Evaluation, or related fields.
- At least one year of experience in health program monitoring and evaluation.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, DHIS2, SharePoint, Power BI, ZanEMR, or similar digital platforms.
- Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
- Good communication and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to travel within Zanzibar, including Unguja and Pemba Islands.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality.
