The Project Coordinator Intern will support the effective planning, coordination, implementation and documentation of Imara Leadership Initiative’s programmes and projects. The role provides practical exposure to project management, stakeholder engagement, programme administration, research, communications, monitoring and reporting and event coordination. The position is suited to a highly organised, proactive, and collaborative candidate who can manage multiple priorities, work across teams and contribute meaningfully to projects focused on leadership, youth, women, peace and security, health, climate resilience, and civic engagement.Principal Responsibilities
- Project Planning and Coordination: Support the planning and implementation of assigned projects, including workplans, timelines, activity schedules, deliverables, task allocation, and coordination with relevant teams and partners.
- Programme Administration and Delivery: Support day-to-day project activities, ensuring that planned activities, meetings, workshops, trainings, and events are well coordinated and delivered in accordance with approved plans and timelines.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Support engagement with project partners, government institutions, civil society organisations, youth and women-led organisations, volunteers, consultants, and other stakeholders. Maintain stakeholder databases, contact lists, invitations, and engagement trackers.
- Meetings, Events and Logistics: Assist with the coordination of project meetings, trainings, workshops, conferences, webinars, and other programme activities, including agendas, participant registration, materials, logistics, attendance records, minutes, and action trackers.
- Monitoring, Reporting and Documentation: Maintain project trackers and documentation; support the collection, organisation, and verification of programme data; prepare activity summaries, progress updates, meeting notes, and other project reports.
- Research and Knowledge Support: Conduct desk research on relevant policy, programme, and thematic issues; support the preparation of briefs, concept notes, presentations, background papers, and other knowledge products.
- Communications and Visibility: Support project communications and visibility activities, including preparation of social media content, newsletters, project updates, success stories, event materials, and documentation of project activities.
Candidate Profile
Required Background- Recent university graduate ( *graduated between 2023- 2026) , the role is designed to prepare the applicant for the job market.
- Strong academic background, ideally in project management, international development, international relations, public policy, political science, social sciences, communications, business administration, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest in development, leadership, youth and women empowerment, peace and security, health, climate resilience, governance, civic engagement or related areas.
- Strong organisational, coordination, time-management, and administrative skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, stakeholder engagement abilities, and a collaborative working style.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse teams, partners, volunteers, and stakeholders across different levels and background.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and digital collaboration tools is required. Knowledge of project management, CRM, communications, or data management tools is an advantage.
- Fluency in English is required, proficiency in Swahili is strongly preferred.

- Consistent and high-quality support to the planning and delivery of assigned projects;
- Timely coordination and follow-through on project activities, meetings, events, and action points;
- Well-maintained project trackers, documentation, stakeholder records, and reporting materials;
- Meaningful contribution to project research, communications, monitoring, reporting, and knowledge products;
- Demonstrated initiative, reliability, professionalism, teamwork, and ability to work under competing priorities; and
- Clear understanding of Imara Leadership Initiative’s programmes, institutional priorities, and commitment to sustainable leadership and social impact.

- Duration: 3–6 months, with potential extension
