City Coffee Limited, part of NKG, operates coffee dry mills in Tanzania and provides farmer advisory services, technical training, farm inputs, and financing to farmers and AMCOS.
City Coffee Ltd is seeking a qualified FSU Manager to join its team in Mbeya, Tanzania. The role reports functionally to the Regional Sustainability Manager and administratively to the Country Manager.

About the Role
The Farmer Services Unit (FSU) Manager will lead the implementation of sustainability and farmer support programs in Tanzania, aligned with regional sustainability frameworks.
The role focuses on responsible sourcing, ethical business practices, environmental stewardship, and smallholder farmer support, including oversight of sustainability projects and farmer financing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Oversight of Farmer Services Unit (60%)
- Oversee sustainable coffee sourcing projects and manage FSU Coordinators and Sustainability Associates
- Implement systems for financial reporting, project progress tracking, and time management
- Manage project budgets and workplans, ensuring timely delivery and compliance
- Support certified and NKG Verified supply chains
- Provide technical guidance on climate‑smart agriculture, biodiversity, and environmental metrics
- Represent City Coffee in engagements with public agencies, NGOs, research institutions, and auditors
- Support staff development and foster collaboration and accountability within the FSU team
2. Smallholder Financing Facility Management (40%)
- Coordinate the rollout of smallholder financing facilities with financial service providers
- Support the design of financing products, structures, and operating models
- Work with finance teams and cooperative management to manage portfolio deployment and relationships
Requirements & Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Crop Science, Natural Resource Economics, Forestry, or related field
- 6–8 years’ experience in agriculture sector programs in East Africa
- Strong understanding of smallholder farming and responsible sourcing
- Proven leadership in managing country‑level operations
- Experience in agricultural financing and/or financial inclusion initiatives
- Advanced working knowledge of Excel and digital data systems
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent communication skills in English and Swahili
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
- Result‑oriented with ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Leadership, coaching, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Interest or experience in the coffee sector is an advantage
- Familiarity with Rainforest Alliance, Fairtrade, or carbon credit projects is a plus
