QUICK ANSWER |
Your CV makes a claim. Your portfolio supports it.
A CV may say you can prepare reports, manage stock, improve a process, serve customers or use accounting software. A portfolio gives a short example that makes the claim easier to understand. It should be relevant, truthful and safe to share.
The four-part career proof pack
1. Skill
Name the capability in employer language. Examples include monthly reporting, stock reconciliation, customer complaint handling, preventive maintenance planning or social media campaign tracking.
2. Work sample
Add one clean sample: an anonymised dashboard, one-page project summary, process map, writing sample, design, spreadsheet model or presentation. Remove names, personal information, passwords, financial details and confidential company data.
3. Result
Explain what changed. Use a verified number only when you are allowed to share it. Otherwise state the practical outcome, such as fewer repeat queries, faster reporting, a clearer handover or better record accuracy.
4. Reference
Where appropriate, include a professional referee or recommendation who can confirm the work. Ask permission before publishing another person’s contact details.

A strong career story connects skill, work sample, result and reference.

A one-page project proof template
· Title: what the work was about.
· Situation: the problem or goal in two sentences.
· Your contribution: what you personally did.
· Tools or skills: only those actually used.
· Outcome: the verified change or lesson.
· Confidentiality check: what was removed or anonymised.
Do not put these items in a public portfolio
· Customer or employee personal information.
· Passwords, access details or internal system screenshots.
· Unpublished financial results, contracts or salary information.
· Work owned by a previous employer unless sharing is authorised.
· Certificates that expose unnecessary identity numbers.
· Claims or numbers that cannot be verified.
After preparing the portfolio, search current JobsTanzania vacancies and attach or mention only the proof item that supports the specific role. Graduates can test the same method through internship opportunities.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a website?
No. A well-organised PDF or private folder can be enough when the content is relevant and easy to open.
How many samples should I use?
Use a small number of strong, relevant samples. Quality, safety and fit matter more than volume.
