ICT Intern / Volunteer

Amref Health Africa is seeking an ICT Intern/Volunteer in Dar es Salaam. The internship is designed to help young ICT professionals bridge the gap between academic study and practical workplace experience while supporting Amref’s ICT operations.

Amref Health Africa is an African-based international health development organization working across multiple African countries with a mission to strengthen community-led and people-centred health systems.

Objective of the ICT Internship

The internship aims to:

• Build the capacity of young IT professionals through practical workplace experience.
• Provide a bridge between academic study and professional ICT work.
• Support Amref’s ICT staffing requirements when needed.

Key Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the Head of ICT, the intern will:

• Provide user support through the ICT help desk, including telephone and email support.
• Maintain logs of reported technical faults and actions taken.
• Perform basic PC hardware, software and network troubleshooting.
• Monitor system performance and diagnose basic ICT problems.
• Configure and test ICT equipment and networks.
• Install and configure hardware, peripherals and software.
• Perform basic computer maintenance, repairs and upgrades.
• Install and test Amref standard software on new computers.
• Update software and assist end users with IT assignments.
• Conduct basic PC housekeeping, including antivirus scanning and updates.
• Assist with ICT equipment audits.
• Help staff set up ICT equipment for meetings, workshops and conferences, including laptops and projectors.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Communication Technology, Computer Science or a related field stated in the vacancy.
• At least six (6) months of working experience.
