Channels and Integration Specialist Job Vacancy at Akiba Commercial Bank Plc (ACB)

Akiba Commercial Bank Plc (ACB) is seeking a qualified and experienced professional to join its technology team as a Channels and Integration Specialist based in Dar es Salaam.

This position plays a key role in supporting the bank's digital transformation journey. The successful candidate will contribute to the development, integration, enhancement, and support of digital banking channels and enterprise systems while enabling seamless communication between backend systems and customer-facing platforms.

The role requires strong software development skills, enterprise application integration expertise, and experience working with Java-based technologies and modern application frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

• Review program objectives, input data, and output requirements to produce software designs.
• Analyze project requirements and prepare workflow charts and UML diagrams.
• Develop software using appropriate tools and technologies.
• Perform development and customization of existing systems, including Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) platforms.
• Integrate software solutions with higher-level systems.
• Perform unit testing and participate in user acceptance testing.
• Prepare technical and user operational manuals.
• Conduct periodic testing and debugging activities.
• Upgrade software and systems to improve security and efficiency.
• Maintain software documentation.
• Use version control frameworks to track software changes.
• Support banking channels, peripheral systems, and third-party API integrations.

Academic Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

• Bachelor's Degree in:
  • Computer Science
  • Information Technology
  • Software Engineering
  • Or a related field

Professional Qualifications

Preferred certifications include:

• IT certifications in areas such as:

  • Unix
  • Linux
  • Windows
  • C#
  • C++
  • Java
  • XML
  • Python

• Project Management certifications such as:

  • PRINCE2
  • PMP

• IT Service Management certifications such as:

  • ITIL
  • COBIT 5

Desired Technical Skills

Candidates should demonstrate:

• Strong Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) skills and Java fundamentals.

• Enterprise application development experience using:

  • Jakarta EE
  • EJB
  • CDI
  • JAX-RS
  • JPA

• Spring Framework experience including:

  • Spring Boot
  • Spring MVC
  • Spring Integration

• Experience with Java application servers:

  • JBoss EAP
  • WildFly
  • WebSphere
  • WebLogic
  • Payara

• Relational database design, development, and administration skills.

• Knowledge of banking systems and core banking platforms.

• Temenos T24 experience will be an added advantage.

• DevOps practices including:

  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Containerization
  • Automated deployments

• Web and mobile application development experience.

• Shell scripting and SQL scripting knowledge.

• Application security knowledge including OWASP guidelines.

• Ability to identify and remediate application security vulnerabilities.

• Strong technical documentation skills.

Required Experience

Applicants should have:

• Minimum two (2) years' experience implementing and supporting banking applications.
• Familiarity with Unix, Linux, and Windows operating systems.
• Strong analytical, design, implementation, and support skills.
• Knowledge of best practices in data management systems.
• Attention to detail and logical problem-solving ability.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
• Ability to identify and resolve software defects efficiently.
