1. Legal Officer

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and support on legal and statutory matters while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Review, draft and negotiate contracts and agreements to protect the bank's interests and mitigate legal risks.
• Represent the bank in legal proceedings, court cases, arbitrations and other dispute resolution mechanisms.
• Monitor adherence to internal policies, procedures and regulatory requirements and advise management on compliance matters.
• Assist in the development and implementation of corporate governance policies and practices.
• Maintain and manage legal documents, records and databases while ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
• Conduct legal and compliance training sessions for staff members.
• Perform other duties assigned by management from time to time.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Degree from a recognized university.
• Must be a registered Advocate and member of the Tanganyika Law Society or equivalent legal body.
• Minimum of two (2) years legal experience preferably within the banking or financial services sector.
• Strong understanding of banking laws, regulations and compliance requirements.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.
• Proficiency in legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
