About the Role
Jema Africa Ltd is recruiting a qualified and experienced Metallurgist to support mineral processing operations at its Kwimba Mhalo Site.
The successful candidate will monitor, control and optimise mineral processing operations to maximise mineral recovery, improve processing efficiency, maintain product quality and minimise operational costs while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control daily mineral processing and metallurgical operations.
- Optimise mineral recovery and mineral processing plant performance.
- Conduct metallurgical tests, sampling and analysis to determine mineral content and recovery rates.
- Monitor crushing, grinding, flotation, leaching and other applicable mineral processing operations.
- Identify, investigate and resolve metallurgical and processing inefficiencies.
- Monitor the consumption of chemicals, reagents and other processing materials.
- Prepare accurate daily, weekly and monthly metallurgical production reports.
- Analyse production data and recommend improvements to mineral processing methods.
- Ensure proper quality control of processed minerals and final products.
- Work closely with Mining, Geology, Laboratory and Engineering teams to support efficient operations.
- Ensure mineral processing activities comply with operational procedures, safety standards and environmental requirements.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing production costs and mineral losses.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Mineral Processing Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: A minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in mineral processing or mining operations.
- Experience working in mineral processing plant operations is an advantage.
- Knowledge of metallurgical accounting, mineral recovery and laboratory testing.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of mineral processing technologies and metallurgical operations.
- Production Reporting: Ability to monitor production activities and prepare accurate operational reports.
- Computer Skills: Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Teamwork: Good communication and ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Performance: Ability to work under pressure and meet production targets.
