Job Description

The International School of Tanganyika is inviting applications for the position of Study Hall Monitor and Academic Support Aide.

The role is responsible for supervising and organising the dedicated Grade 11 and Grade 12 Study Hall during non-class periods. The successful candidate will help maintain a safe, focused and productive learning environment while supporting students undertaking the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.

The position works closely with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme Coordinator, Guidance Counsellors, Secondary Librarian, Secondary Teaching Faculty and the Secondary School administration.

2. Job Purpose

The Study Hall Monitor and Academic Support Aide will supervise the daily operation of the Grade 11 and Grade 12 Study Hall, promote responsible use of independent study periods and ensure compliance with attendance and safeguarding requirements.

The role will also connect students with appropriate academic resources and provide non-teaching administrative assistance to the Secondary School Office when Study Hall supervision is not required.

A. Study Hall Management and Student Supervision

  • Prepare weekly reports for the Secondary Vice Principal and Diploma Programme Coordinator.
  • Convert observations and attendance information into actionable data that can support student intervention and academic planning. 

D. Administrative and Operational Support

When students are not scheduled for Study Hall, the successful candidate may:

  • Support the Secondary Office with approved non-teaching administrative assignments.
  • Assist with logistics for large-scale testing, including International Baccalaureate mock examinations.
  • Provide short-break administrative coverage, including Reception coverage where assigned.
  • Help prepare materials for school events and parent communications.
  • Carry out other appropriate duties assigned by the Secondary School Principal.

  • A bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Counselling, Administration, Social Sciences or another relevant field.
