About the Opportunities
Experienced professionals are invited to explore six technical and management opportunities supporting construction, infrastructure and project operations in Tanzania. Five positions are advertised for Zanzibar, while the IT Manager position is advertised for Tanzania without a specified city.
POSITION 01 | ZANZIBAR
Design Manager
Experience: Minimum 15 years, including 8 years in design management.
Reports to: Project Director / Executive Director
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the in-house engineering design team.
- Oversee roads, bridges, drainage, pavement, earthworks, culverts and utility designs.
- Manage specialist external design consultants.
- Review designs for constructability, cost efficiency and contractual compliance.
- Lead technical discussions and secure client or consultant approvals.
- Coordinate design-related solutions with construction teams.
Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering.
- 15+ years of relevant experience, including 8 years in design management.
- Strong background in Design & Build road and bridge projects.
- Experience leading in-house design teams.
- Excellent technical presentation, negotiation and English communication skills.
POSITION 02 | ZANZIBAR
Senior Design Engineer
Experience: 8-10 years
Reports to: Design Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare engineering designs, calculations, drawings and technical reports independently.
- Design road geometry, pavements, earthworks, drainage and culverts.
- Support bridge and structural design.
- Review external consultant designs and optimize construction solutions.
- Prepare technical submissions and respond to client engineer comments.
- Guide junior engineers and draftsmen.
Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering.
- 8-10 years of relevant design experience.
- Strong road, drainage and infrastructure engineering expertise.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and related design software.
- Design & Build contractor experience is preferred.
- Good English communication skills.
POSITION 03 | ZANZIBAR
Design Engineer
Experience: 5-8 years
Reports to: Design Manager / Senior Design Engineer
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare road and infrastructure designs, calculations and drawings.
- Develop alignments, longitudinal profiles, cross-sections and pavement details.
- Design drainage channels, culverts and related structures.
- Assist with bridge and structural detailing.
- Prepare technical submissions for approval.
- Coordinate with drafting, survey and construction teams.
- Identify design discrepancies and recommend cost-effective solutions.
Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering.
- 5-8 years of relevant design experience.
- Hands-on road, highway and drainage design.
- Strong AutoCAD and Civil 3D proficiency.
- Knowledge of international highway and drainage design standards.
- Design & Build project experience preferred.
- Ability to work with limited supervision and communicate well in English.
POSITION 04 | ZANZIBAR
Civil Draftsman - Roads, Bridges & Infrastructure
Experience: 5-8 years
Reports to: Design Manager / Design Engineers
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare engineering drawings for roads, bridges, drainage, culverts and infrastructure.
- Produce road plans, profiles, cross-sections and pavement details.
- Prepare drainage and utility layouts.
- Develop structural and reinforcement drawings and bar bending schedules.
- Prepare shop drawings, as-built drawings and drawing revisions.
- Maintain drawing registers and revision control.
- Coordinate with design and site teams.
Qualifications
- Diploma or technical qualification in Civil Engineering or Drafting.
- 5-8 years of infrastructure drafting experience.
- Advanced AutoCAD and Civil 3D skills.
- Knowledge of road geometry, drainage, cross-sections and structural detailing.
- Ability to prepare construction and shop drawings independently.
- Design & Build experience preferred.
- Good working knowledge of English.
POSITION 05 | ZANZIBAR
Mechanization Chief
Experience: Minimum 15 years
Key Responsibilities
- Manage construction machinery, heavy equipment and vehicle fleets.
- Monitor equipment location, condition, utilization and availability.
- Coordinate equipment deployment and redeployment.
- Plan and monitor preventive and scheduled maintenance.
- Track breakdowns, downtime and equipment performance.
- Maintain maintenance histories, operating-hour and movement records.
- Improve fleet efficiency and prepare management reports.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.
- 15+ years in heavy equipment, construction machinery and fleet management.
- Strong maintenance planning and operational coordination experience.
- Advanced MS Office and Excel skills.
- Excellent reporting, analytical and team management capabilities.
- Very good written and spoken English.
POSITION 06 | TANZANIA
IT Manager
Experience: Minimum 10 years
Location: Tanzania, specific project location not stated
Key Responsibilities
- Manage IT infrastructure, networks and business systems.
- Maintain reliable IT services across the organization.
- Troubleshoot systems and optimize technical performance.
- Manage LAN/WAN networks, internet and telecommunications.
- Coordinate with internet and telecommunications providers.
- Oversee cybersecurity, backup and access controls.
- Manage IT assets, maintenance and equipment replacement.
- Provide technical support and prepare operational reports.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, IT or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of professional IT experience.
- Expertise in infrastructure, network administration and systems management.
- Strong knowledge of routers, switches, wireless networks and LAN/WAN.
- Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365, email and user access management skills.
- Understanding of cybersecurity, backup and disaster recovery.
- Hands-on problem-solving skills and strong English communication.
