Job Description
The University of Iringa is inviting applications from qualified and experienced Tanzanians for the position of Director of ICT Services.
This senior leadership role is responsible for providing strategic direction for information and communication technology services across the University. The Director of ICT Services will oversee ICT infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise systems, ICT standards, user support services, vendor relationships, and technology modernization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
The Director of ICT Services shall:
- Report to the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Planning, Administration and Finance.
- Lead and manage the ICT Directorate.
- Develop strategic ICT proposals and oversee implementation mechanisms.
- Oversee security of enterprise systems, networks, and organizational information.
- Ensure compliance with established ICT standards.
- Analyze ICT infrastructure and systems performance to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Assess operating costs, productivity levels, upgrade requirements, and business needs.
- Recommend and supervise hardware and software specifications for ICT equipment.
- Coordinate ICT security audits and investigations.
- Prepare and submit ICT reports.
- Provide ICT user support, including staff training, access management, and system security.
- Develop and maintain relationships with ICT vendors and service providers.
- Keep abreast of emerging ICT trends and technologies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by University management.
Qualifications & Experience
Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology (IT) or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
- Master's Degree in Information Technology (IT) or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
- Candidates with foreign qualifications must have verification letters from TCU for the respective qualifications.
Work Experience
- Minimum of six (6) years of relevant professional work experience.
Skills & Competencies
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and groups of technical professionals.
- Strong ICT project management capability.
- Strategic thinking and innovation in technology implementation.
- Ability to promote teamwork and manage conflict effectively.
- Strong change management capability, particularly within public-sector environments.
- Knowledge of ICT governance, cybersecurity, enterprise systems, and infrastructure management.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
