DCG is seeking a competent and experienced Fleet Foreman to support efficient fleet operations, vehicle maintenance, and driver supervision while maintaining high operational and safety standards.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
The Fleet Foreman will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Oversee and coordinate daily fleet operations, including truck allocation and driver assignments
- Provide regular operational progress updates to the Fleet Supervisor
- Monitor vehicle repair activities and preventive maintenance schedules in line with approved workshop plans
- Enforce daily vehicle inspection routines and ensure logbooks and checklists are properly completed and endorsed
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, housekeeping, and general condition of trucks, trailers, and fleet facilities
- Coordinate vehicle breakdown responses and arrange timely repairs with continuous status reporting
- Supervise driver conduct and performance at terminals, ICDs, ports, loading, and offloading points
- Ensure strict compliance with safety, statutory, and company policies, including valid licenses and permits
- Manage custody and control of fleet tools and safety equipment, and prepare monthly inventory reports
- Support driver availability planning by monitoring attendance, absenteeism, and turnover
- Comply with DCG Quality, Environmental, and Occupational Health & Safety standards
(ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018)
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager in line with organizational objectives
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Logistics & Transport, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in fleet management, transport operations, workshop supervision, or Port/ICD operations
- Valid driving license for both light and heavy trucks
- Heavy-duty driving experience of more than 5 years
- Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance, fleet operations, and transport logistics
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and email)
- Good command of English and Swahili (spoken and written)
- Strong leadership, coordination, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple operational tasks
- Experience working with GPS tracking systems and fleet monitoring platforms
