BRAC Tanzania Finance Limited is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Head of Operations to lead nationwide field operations, drive sustainable business growth, strengthen portfolio performance, and deliver exceptional customer and social impact outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Business Growth
- Lead nationwide operational teams to deliver strategic business objectives.
- Drive borrower acquisition, portfolio growth, market expansion, and product rollout initiatives.
- Develop sustainable growth strategies focusing on customer retention and social impact.
- Support annual business planning, budgeting, and operational forecasting.
- Lead execution of Annual Strategic Plans (ASP) and operational targets.
Operations & Portfolio Management
- Ensure portfolio quality and operational efficiency across all branches.
- Strengthen field supervision, controls, and performance management frameworks.
- Monitor regional and branch performance using KPIs and management dashboards.
- Implement corrective actions to address operational performance gaps.
Risk, Governance & Compliance
- Manage operational risk, portfolio risk, and fraud prevention programs.
- Strengthen governance through collaboration with Compliance, Audit, Legal, and Risk teams.
- Ensure timely closure of audit observations and implementation of corrective measures.
- Maintain compliance with responsible finance standards and client protection principles.
Innovation & Customer Experience
- Support deployment of new products, channels, and digital solutions.
- Champion financial inclusion and customer-centric service delivery.
- Drive adoption of digital transformation initiatives, including:
- Core Banking Systems
- Mobile Banking Platforms
- Digital Field Applications
- Reporting & Analytics Platforms
- Conduct regular customer engagement and field visits to improve service quality.
People Leadership
- Develop and mentor high-performing leadership teams.
- Lead workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and performance excellence.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain relationships with regulators, investors, donors, and development partners.
- Represent BRAC in industry forums and stakeholder engagements.
- Enhance organizational visibility and influence within the financial inclusion sector.
Safeguarding Responsibilities
- Promote and enforce safeguarding policies and practices.
- Ensure staff receive mandatory safeguarding training.
- Maintain a safe and respectful work environment.
- Report safeguarding concerns and support investigations where required.
Qualifications
Education
- Master's Degree in:
- Business Administration (MBA)
- Finance
- Economics
- Banking
- Management
- Or a related discipline
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in:
- Microfinance
- Retail Banking
- Financial Services
- Financial Inclusion
- At least 5 years managing large-scale field operations.
- Proven success in scaling operations and delivering business growth targets.
