Akiba Commercial Bank Plc (ACB Bank) is seeking a qualified and analytical Internal Auditor to strengthen governance, risk management, internal controls, and regulatory compliance across the organization.

About the Role

The Internal Auditor will provide independent assurance through risk-based audits that evaluate the effectiveness of the Bank's internal controls, risk management practices, governance frameworks, and compliance processes. The role also supports continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen operational efficiency and safeguard organizational assets.

This position is based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Key Responsibilities

As an Internal Auditor, you will:

• Conduct risk-based and planned audits in line with approved audit plans.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, governance structures, accounting systems, and operational processes.
• Assess compliance with Bank policies, regulatory requirements, and applicable industry standards.
• Participate in special audits, spot checks, investigations, and compliance reviews.
• Identify control weaknesses, operational risks, and root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare comprehensive audit reports and supporting working papers.
• Follow up on audit recommendations to ensure timely implementation.
• Support audit planning, risk assessments, and audit execution through data analysis.
• Maintain proper audit documentation and adherence to audit methodologies.
• Assist the Chief Internal Auditor in strengthening the Bank's overall control environment.

Qualifications and Experience

To succeed in this role, applicants should have:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or a related field.
• CPA (T) or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.
• Additional audit certifications will be an added advantage.
• Minimum of three (3) years' relevant audit experience, preferably within banking or financial services.
• Strong understanding of banking operations, risk management, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent analytical, report writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments with minimal supervision.
