Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise maintenance technicians.
  • Conduct performance reviews and identify development needs.
  • Promote a strong safety-first maintenance culture.

Maintenance Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Analyze equipment performance data and downtime trends.
  • Implement root-cause corrective actions to improve reliability.
  • Drive Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) improvements.

Technical Operations

  • Troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Support PLC and SCADA-related maintenance activities.
  • Conduct machinery inspections and maintenance audits.
  • Ensure maintenance work complies with quality and safety standards.

Planning, Administration & Cost Control

  • Maintain maintenance records, work orders, and equipment history.
  • Manage departmental maintenance budgets.
  • Prepare maintenance reports and performance analysis.
  • Monitor expenditures and identify cost-saving initiatives.

Inventory & Vendor Management

  • Manage spare parts inventory and stock levels.
  • Coordinate procurement of maintenance materials.
  • Build and maintain supplier relationships.
  • Ensure timely delivery of critical maintenance items.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) standards.
  • Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments.
  • Promote regulatory and operational compliance.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of maintenance supervisory experience within:
    • Packaging
    • FMCG
    • Plastics manufacturing
    • Related industrial manufacturing environments
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Swahili.

Technical Competencies

Experience with:

  • Electrical systems troubleshooting.
  • Reading electrical drawings and schematics.
  • PLC programming and troubleshooting.
  • SCADA systems.
  • Mechanical systems maintenance.
  • Hydraulic systems.
  • Pneumatic systems.
  • Maintenance planning software.
  • Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Highly Desirable

  • Vendor and contractor management experience.
  • Project management knowledge.
  • Reliability and maintenance certifications.
  • TPM or Lean Manufacturing exposure.
