MEP & Facilities Manager Career Opportunity in Tanzania

People Project Co. is recruiting on behalf of a growing mining company operating in Tanzania that is expanding its operations and infrastructure. The company is seeking an experienced MEP & Facilities Manager to oversee mechanical, electrical, plumbing, utilities, and facilities systems supporting mineral processing operations and remote site infrastructure. 

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineering professional with strong maintenance leadership experience to drive asset reliability, operational efficiency, infrastructure performance, and continuous improvement within a dynamic mining environment. 


Position Details

Job Title: MEP & Facilities Manager
Location: Tanzania
Sector: Mining Operations & Infrastructure Management 

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, utility, accommodation, workshop, and facility systems that support mining and mineral processing activities.


Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Maintenance Management

  • Lead all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and facilities maintenance activities.
  • Ensure reliable operation of generators, pumps, motors, electrical distribution systems, and water supply infrastructure.
  • Develop and improve preventive and predictive maintenance programmes.
  • Maintain asset registers, maintenance records, and inspection reports.
  • Coordinate repairs and minimize equipment downtime.
  • Support installation and commissioning of new infrastructure and plant equipment. 

Facilities & Infrastructure Management

  • Oversee maintenance of offices, workshops, accommodation camps, and warehouses.
  • Manage water systems, boreholes, storage tanks, drainage networks, and sanitation infrastructure.
  • Ensure uninterrupted utility services across site operations.
  • Maintain facility integrity and housekeeping standards. 

Asset Reliability & Utilities Management

  • Monitor fuel, electricity, and water consumption.
  • Implement cost-saving and efficiency improvement initiatives.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and maintenance materials.
  • Improve equipment reliability and asset lifespan. 

Project Coordination & Technical Leadership

  • Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and contractor submissions.
  • Coordinate engineering contractors and infrastructure projects.
  • Support plant expansion and engineering improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure quality and compliance of all engineering works. 

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, environmental, and statutory regulations.
  • Enforce permit-to-work and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments and incident investigations.
  • Ensure engineering systems comply with applicable standards. 

Budgeting & Performance Management

  • Prepare annual maintenance budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor maintenance expenditure and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Produce maintenance KPI reports, including equipment availability and downtime analysis. 

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead electricians, mechanics, plumbers, technicians, and maintenance teams.
  • Manage contractors and ensure quality service delivery.
  • Drive technical excellence, accountability, and workforce development.
  • Conduct coaching, mentoring, and performance management activities. 

Qualifications

Education

Candidates should possess:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Professional registration with a recognized engineering body is an added advantage. 

Experience

Applicants should have:

  • 6 to 8 years of experience in MEP, industrial maintenance, facilities management, or heavy engineering operations.
  • At least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Experience managing generators, electrical systems, pumps, motors, water infrastructure, and mechanical equipment.
  • Proven maintenance planning and asset management experience.
  • Experience managing contractors, budgets, and operational reporting.
  • Willingness to work at a remote project location.
  • Mining, gold processing, or East African operational experience is highly desirable.
