Safety Officer Job Vacancy at Lake Cement Ltd (Nyati Cement) in Tanzania 2026

Lake Cement Limited (Nyati Cement) is recruiting a qualified and experienced Safety Officer to support occupational health, safety and environmental compliance at its cement manufacturing plant.

Applicants must possess at least three years of relevant field experience in the cement, construction or oil and gas industries.

Key Responsibilities

• Liaise with NEMC, OSHA and fire authorities regarding legal compliance.

• Implement and monitor approved Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) plans and policies at the plant.

• Conduct HSE inductions, refresher training and fire drills.

• Perform daily workplace safety inspections and HSE audits.

• Implement corrective measures arising from safety inspections.

• Lead emergency preparedness and response planning.

• Support plant hygiene and workplace safety standards.

• Coordinate pollution control, waste management and recycling activities.

• Carry out environmental impact assessments and staff HSE training.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences.

Professional Experience

Minimum three years of relevant field experience in one or more of the following industries:

• Cement manufacturing.

• Construction.

• Oil and Gas.

Relevant industry experience is mandatory.

Professional Certification

Health and Safety qualification recognised by NOSHC, as stated in the employer's recruitment advertisement.

Regulatory and Technical Knowledge

• Knowledge of OSHA, NEMC and fire safety policies and regulations.

• Experience conducting workplace risk assessments.

• Accident investigation and reporting capabilities.

• Understanding of industrial safety compliance requirements.

Additional Skills

• Strong written and verbal communication.

• Excellent reporting skills.

• Competence in standard computer applications.
