FHI 360 is seeking a highly qualified Senior Technical Officer, TB Services to support the implementation and scale-up of comprehensive tuberculosis (TB) prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment activities under the EpiC Project in Tanzania. The position will play a critical role in strengthening TB and TB/HIV collaborative services across Police, Prison and public health facilities while improving access to quality, client-centered TB care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for planning, implementation and scale-up of TB interventions.
  • Support TB screening, active case finding, diagnosis and treatment services.
  • Oversee TB preventive treatment (TPT), TB/HIV collaborative activities and drug-resistant TB interventions.
  • Ensure implementation aligns with Ministry of Health and National TB and Leprosy Programme guidelines.
  • Strengthen integration of TB services within HIV, primary healthcare, Police and Prison health systems.
  • Conduct mentorship, coaching, supportive supervision and clinical case reviews.
  • Monitor TB program performance using routine data analysis and quality assessments.
  • Support development and implementation of site-specific performance improvement plans.
  • Strengthen TB/HIV case identification, linkage and retention in treatment.
  • Support drug-resistant TB identification, referral and patient-centered management.
  • Promote effective use of health information systems and digital reporting tools.
  • Coordinate with government stakeholders, implementing partners and health facility teams.
  • Support budgeting, planning and prioritization of TB program activities.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations and donor updates.
  • Document and share best practices, lessons learned and program innovations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution.
  • Master of Public Health (MPH) or equivalent postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
  • Minimum six (6) years of progressive experience in TB and TB/HIV programming.
  • Experience supporting prevention, diagnosis and treatment programs within donor-funded health initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience providing technical assistance to government health authorities and implementing partners.
  • Proven ability to analyze TB program data and use findings to improve performance.
  • Experience mentoring healthcare workers and junior technical staff.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of TB prevention, diagnosis, treatment and TB/HIV collaborative services.
  • Knowledge of Tanzania Ministry of Health and NTLP guidelines and standards.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Expertise in quality assurance and continuous quality improvement.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with government counterparts, donors and partners.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili.
  • Strong data interpretation and performance improvement skills.
