Fleet Manager

The Fleet Manager is a senior operational leadership role responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle management of the company’s vehicle and transport fleet. The role ensures cost‑effective, safe, efficient, and compliant transport operations aligned with organizational strategy, regulatory requirements, and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the acquisition, registration, licensing, and disposal of fleet vehicles in compliance with TRA, LATRA, and Road Traffic Act requirements.
• Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule to minimize downtime, reduce repair costs, and extend vehicle lifespan.
• Monitor fuel consumption, route planning, and vehicle utilization using fleet management and GPS tracking systems.
• Ensure full compliance with driver licensing, vehicle insurance (Third Party and Comprehensive), periodic inspections, and OSH safety standards.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and appraise drivers and transport staff, enforcing professional conduct and transport policies.
• Enforce transport safety protocols and discipline across all fleet operations.
• Prepare and manage the fleet budget, monthly performance reports, cost analysis, accident records, and maintenance expenditure reports for management decision‑making.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Transport & Logistics, Transport Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Professional certification in Fleet or Logistics Management is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in fleet or transport operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of Tanzanian road traffic laws, LATRA regulations, and vehicle import/registration processes.
• Proficiency in fleet management software, GPS tracking systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Valid Tanzanian driving licence with a clean driving record.
