Steinweg is seeking a Data Analyst to support its terminal operations through accurate data collection, analysis, performance monitoring and management reporting.
The overall purpose of this position is to collect, analyse and report operational, financial, safety and performance data across terminal operations.
The successful candidate will generate actionable, data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making, operational efficiency and process optimisation.
This opportunity is relevant to candidates experienced in data analytics, logistics, finance, fleet management, operational performance or related quantitative functions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Cargo Volume & Terminal Throughput Analysis
-
Monitor, track and analyse cargo throughput, container and bulk movements, and yard capacity utilisation.

Calculate and report vehicle, equipment and vessel turnaround times (TAT).
-
Identify operational bottlenecks and causes of delays.
-
Track client volume trends and service levels.
-
Monitor performance against key client service-level agreements (SLAs).
2. Fuel, Fleet & Resource Tracking
-
Track fuel receiving, storage levels, consumption rates, equipment mileage and operational variances.
-
Investigate fuel anomalies, equipment idle time, downtime and maintenance inefficiencies.
-
Conduct root-cause analysis of operational performance issues.
-
Collaborate with terminal supervisors to improve equipment scheduling and fleet allocation.
3. Financial & Cost Control Analysis
-
Analyse operational cost drivers, freight and handling tariffs, storage charges and demurrage penalties.
-
Assist with reconciling physical activity against billing data, stock records and system entries.
-
Prepare variance reports comparing operational expenditure and resource consumption against budgets and historical performance.
4. Safety & HSE Compliance Data
-
Maintain safety performance metrics.
-
Track health, safety and environment (HSE) indicators, including incidents, near-misses and safety audits.
-
Monitor compliance with safety requirements for fuel handling, equipment operation and terminal traffic.
5. Data Reporting & Systems Management
-
Design, update and maintain operational dashboards using Microsoft Excel, Power BI and related tools.

Ensure accurate data entry across terminal departments and customer IT systems.
-
Identify and reconcile data discrepancies.
-
Prepare daily, weekly and monthly operational performance reports for the Terminals General Manager.

Generate analytical business reports to support management decisions.
6. Additional Responsibilities

Comply with company occupational health and safety policies.

Follow company procedures and data confidentiality standards.

Perform other reasonable analytical or operational assignments given by leadership.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education
Applicants should possess a Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in one of the following fields:

Another relevant quantitative discipline
Professional Experience
-
Two to three years of practical experience as a Data Analyst, Logistics/Fleet Analyst, Finance/Operations Analyst or in a comparable quantitative role.

Candidates from FMCG, logistics, telecommunications, manufacturing, retail, audit or consulting may apply if they demonstrate strong operational or financial data-analysis experience.
Technical Skills
Advanced Microsoft Excel

At least two years of hands-on experience.

Pivot Tables.

XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH and nested IF functions.

Data cleaning and validation.

Dynamic dashboard development.
Multi-Metric Analysis

Operational performance and cargo volume analysis.

Vehicle and equipment turnaround times.

Fuel consumption, idle time and equipment downtime.

Cost-versus-budget analysis.

Freight tariffs, handling costs and demurrage analysis.
Data Reconciliation & Accuracy

Ability to audit raw data.

Identify system discrepancies.
-
Reconcile operational reports against system records.
-
Maintain high standards of data accuracy and integrity.
Experience creating and maintaining dashboards using Excel and Power BI is relevant to the role.
